Brooklyn Museum acquires artworks from The Black Arts Movements

The Brooklyn Museum has announced the acquisition of 44 works by 26 artists from the Black Arts Movement. “After decades of finding no market for their art, which they placed largely among friends, the visual artists of the Black Arts Movement are receiving the scholarly attention that will dramatically reconfigure our understanding of their significance,” stated curator Teresa A. From Jan.18 the German government shows in Bonn the last acquisitions of its contemporary art collection. The German Federal Republic has started collecting art in 1971. Now it owns 1,500 works for a total insurance value of €32 million. My article on the website of Il Sole 24 ORE, ArtEconomy24.
